Oh this is so interesting Jordan. I've skim-read and saving this sub-stack for a deep close read. You write so well, Jordan and spec fiction offers an exciting realm of possibilities. Dystopian and Utopian.
I often hang with spec writers. It's not my genre but the mahi that goes into writing a fantasy world that feels credible is similar to the crafting for historical fiction. The world has to be implanted in the writer's mind so fully that they can see the characters, know what they eat and drink and dream - the dreams of a dreamer in a dreamed up world!
Thanks so much! And yeah I'm kinda similar in that it's not my go-to genre, but I'm always really into its possibilities - especially when it feels like its coming from a unique perspective.
I've been meaning to play Umurangi Generation and write about it for a long time.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
No worries, thanks for stopping by! Will definitely be checking out your work - the pieces on the pixel remasters definitely caught my eye.
I'm glad to read!
Those pieces are quite representative of a certain way of writing that I'm trying to move away from. I'm quite glad I wrote them though. : )
Very cool, loved the close read. Just found this on Steam. Gonna have to check it out!
Hope you enjoy! Very chill game, especially if you're into 2000-ish game soundtracks and stuff.
cool read Jordan, Thanks!
Thank you! Appreciate you taking the time to read
